That moment when you realise something

You can be the moon, and still be jealous of the stars.

Gary Allan

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been refraining about blogging about a particular topic. But even today, I’m not sure if I can actually be able to blog about it. It’s quite a confusing topic, but when you actually think about it, it seems quite clear. Jealousy is, I suppose, another word for it.

You know when you feel jealous about something, yet you know you have no reason to actually feel jealous about it? In life, we come across lots of different experiences, emotions, and most of all, people. Every single day, we see someone, and we meet them, we analyse their expressions, and their emotions without even noticing. But then after a while, if you see a trait in them – something you don’t have, or something you could never achieve, you think that all of a sudden, you’re not good enough. You never want to admit it, but after a while, you realise that maybe you aren’t enough. Well, to be frank, if you think you aren’t good enough, or perfect enough for the people around you, you are wrong.

Everyone has flaws. Even if they don’t want people to see it, every single person has flaws. But sometimes flaws are what make people special, and sometimes you can even greatly benefit from your flaws. You’ll learn to get around them, and even if you can’t it doesn’t really matter. You are something and someone different, and nothing can take that away from you.

Sometimes this extends to relationships with someone you adore, and someone you’ve always been relatively close with. Even though you can change what happens between two groups of people, it isn’t good. That is defined as manipulation. But in life, we can’t get everything we want. Nothing ever comes to those who actually deserve it. Well, sometimes it does come to those, but we can’t all have everything we want. There are no mini-me versions of us, and we can’t have two lives – one for reality, and one for our dreams. We just can’t.

If you feel jealous of someone else, just ask yourself why you think they are better than you. Everyone has their traits, but other people will love you for who you are, even with your traits. It’s the ones who stick around who you should spend your time being jealous of. They have an amazing person in their lives – and that person is, well, you.
